Christmas Eve: Thursday 24th December

John1:1-2, 14-16

In the beginning was theWord, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginningwith God … And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory,glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. Johntestified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He whocomes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’” For of Hisfullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.

Thegreatest miracle ever to occur was the birth of the infinite and eternal andall-knowing and all-powerful Son of God as a baby in a finite, fallen universe!

“The Word was God…and theWord became flesh, and dwelt among us.” Someone once said, “Imagine planting a gardenand then becoming a plant.” It’s shocking to even contemplate making a choicelike that; and yet, the distance between us and a plant is far smaller than thedistance between us and God.

Whatwould make Him make a choice like that to `plant’ Himself in this soiled world?Only one thing. God is saying to you today, “That is how much I love you!” Letthat thought sink into your mind for a few moments. Doesn’t it make you want tolove Him back with all your heart?
