Psalm46:10 Cease striving and knowthat I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in theearth. GiveGod some still time! Ifthis is going to happen, you are going to have to allocate time for it. Youwill not naturally just find yourself giving time to meditation on the thingsof God. But once you begin, you will find it to be one of the most importantactivities in your life. Thetruly great people in almost any sphere of activity take time out just forthinking deeply about their lives and work. The Lord is calling us to applythis same discipline to our spiritual lives. It is difficult to take time tosimply be quiet with God and His word. Not necessarily praying so much aslistening and thinking about God and what He is putting on our hearts andminds. That’s why the Lord is saying to us today, “Cease striving and know that I am God.” Whenyou first try this discipline you might struggle a bit. Andrew Murray said, “Ifany are inclined to despond, because they do not have such patience, let thembe of good courage. It is in the course of our feeble and very imperfectwaiting that God Himself, by His hidden power, strengthens us and works out inus the patience of the saints, the patience of Christ Himself.” |
