Last week on Night Alive, I - Jesse Smith - made an 8 yr old girl cry. Not on purpose, of course. I don't seek out little children to torment. In fact, I am very much a 'kid person'.
I teach the littlies each week at Sunday School and my first unofficial job was babysitting.
So imagine my horror and shame when I was told by my boss that 8 year old Faith cried herself to sleep after she had called in for What's My Theme and been beaten to the punch by someone else.
After a confusing phone call that ended in Faith's phone line dropping out, we were both under different impressions. Faith had heard that she got the answer wrong. Fact was, she was right, but simply called too late. I didn't realise I'd been misheard.
When the winner's answer went to air - Faith heard someone win...someone who'd had the same answer as her. Thus - tears erupted.
The next day, my boss read to me an email about Faith and how I made her cry for 2 hours straight. I felt soooo bad. Whether it was my fault or simply miscommunication, I could not have this 8 year old girl upset with me. Not when I could fix it!
The hunt began. I called her Dad to get their home number so I could apologise to Faith and invite her to be my Special Guest Host for an evening. When I finally reached Faith, I was forgiven and she gladly accepted my offer to co-host Night Alive the following evening.
These are the photos from that Friday night where the studio was filled with Faith and her family and TONS of sugary goodness!
