How long have you been singing?
I started singing when I was about 4 years old. I studied singing and dancing for 6 years at Johnny Young Talent School from age 4 and then continued to study singing and dancing and more recently, acting and musical theatre. I started performing regularly in front of audiences from about age 15 and soon after that, began writing and recording my own music. I’ve been studying singing at Melbourne’s AML Golden Voice Studios for almost 10 years, in which time I’ve also become more acquainted with jazz and classical music.
Which artist or band inspires you most?
My favourite artist probably is Kelly Clarkson. Growing up, I listened to a lot of Pop/R’n’B music and in my teens, I was very influenced by artists such as Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson, as well as groups such as Boyz II Men, Bon Jovi, Backstreet Boys and *N Sync. In the early 2000s, I became a huge fan of artists such as Ricky Martin, Jon Secada, Christina Aguilera and Brian McKnight and more recently, of Andrea Bocelli, George Benson, Israel Houghton and Chris Tomlin.
Do you have a dream as to where you would like your music to take you?
I would like to be able to perform for and connect with audiences from many different walks of life all around the world and have my recorded music reach many different parts of the globe as well. I would love to do a lot of performing in musical theatre, including Christian musicals and have the opportunity to sing, act and dance in these productions; I’m currently involved in composing music for a Melbourne-based Christian musical.
I’ve always wanted to write and perform music that is entertaining and fun but also that touches the heart and uplifts people. I hope to inspire people to be all that they can be and see the uniqueness, gifts and beauty that God has given each one of us!
How would you describe your style of music?
Pop, with elements of Latin, R’n’B, House, Rock and Classical.
