Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
What God did for you that first Christmas is more than you could ever imagine!
It’s been said, “There has been only one Christmas — the rest are anniversaries”. No matter how sacrificial your Christmas present to someone is, it could never truly communicate the depths of God’s gift to us so many years ago. “God sent forth His Son.”
Let’s unpack this gift. He has redeemed you from the Law. That is, Jesus took the penalty God’s law required for your sin when He died on the cross. He was born so that He could die for you. God has also adopted you as His child. Now you have the wonderful access to God that only a little child can have with his father. And He has sent forth the Holy Spirit into our hearts.
