2Timothy 1:12

For this reason I alsosuffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed andI am convinced that He is able to guardwhat I have entrusted to Him until that day.

Ashe writes these words, Paul is suffering because He is doing what God calledhim to do.

Formany people this wouldn’t fit their picture of God. They think that life shouldbe pleasant if I am living by faith. But to Paul, being blessed didn’t meanthat life was great, it meant being in a place where God was using him; itmeant bringing glory to God.

Paulknew God. Because of that, he knew that when he entrusted his life, hispossessions, his future, his health to God, he could trust God even when thingsdidn’t turn out the way he wanted, because he knew that “God is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.”

“That day” meant when God wraps uphuman history and brings this world to an end and through judgment rights thewrongs of this life and brings justice. In “thatday” Paul would receive his rewards and he knew they’d be far greater thanhis losses in this life, no matter what they were, so long as he honoured Godthrough them all.
