Matthew14:22-23

Immediately He made thedisciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while Hesent the crowds away. After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on themountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.

Youmust get alone with God!

TheLord Jesus’ own life teaches us this lesson so powerfully today. If we aregoing to learn to meditate on the things of God, we need to follow Jesus’example and often get alone with God. Jesus would often slip away to thewilderness, or go up on a mountain. He would find a secluded place to focus onHis heavenly Father.

Getaway from the internet, from your magazines, from the TV. Turn your home phoneoff, and your mobile too. Do what it takes to truly have time alone with God.He is looking forward to that special time with you, alone together up on His “mountain”.

Youmay even have to shut yourself in the bathroom to find that secluded space, ifyou have small children. (You’ll emerge a calmer, happier parent! They’llwonder what happened…)

Youwant to be greatly used by God in other people’s lives. But as LeonardRavenhill put it, “To be much for God, we must be much with God.” He was right.Your inner spiritual life determines your usefulness to God.
