We communicate Christian hope to people in Melbourne.
Values
LightFM will through all activities and endeavours:
- Demonstrate confidence in God and not limit Him working in and through us;
- Act prayerfully;
- Value diversity in Christian expression;
- Remain accountable and take responsibility for our actions;
- Show persistence, passion and determination;
- Be prepared to take risks;
- Recognise that communication is powerful and even more so when it focuses on our listeners' needs;
- Willingly learn and develop;
- Respond positively to challenges and turn threats into opportunities; and
- Exhibit professionalism in all our dealings.
The vision, mission and values provide the necessary framework for LightFM to pursue the following:
- provide a Christian voice of hope for those who have least power in our society;
- foster interest and encourage involvement of Christians in all aspects of radio including operations and management;
- foster an appreciation of ethical principles consistent with those of the broader Christian community;
- provide access to community radio for groups, organisations and individuals who are working within the community to support and empower the frail, vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalised;
- provide via an advisory committee or other appropriate vehicle, involvement in radio by the Heads of Christian Churches in Melbourne;
- encourage discussions on issues defining Australian culture and community; and
- participate in developing a sense of Australian identity, character and cultural diversity.
As a result of this, it is our aim for our listeners' to:
- know that they are cared for and are not alone;
- feel a sense of hope and assurance in life;
- form a positive view of the Christian faith;
- investigate the spiritual dimension of life;
- trust us to provide a safe listening environment for the entire family;
- be entertained and accurately informed;
- enjoy our company;
- sense the touch of God in their lives;
- challenge their own thinking;
- experience our friendship and a sense of community; and
- connect, via our Careline, with a local Christian church.
