This week Eileen Glass from L’Arche Australia shares the story of how one man in France, 50 years ago, has now changed the lives of thousands around the world, who are living with an intellectual disability….
“What he recognised was that when someone lives with the experience of a disability, they already suffer a loss, and often experience social isolation…”
SUMMER IN THE FOREST is a moving documentary of an extraordinary man—Jean Vanier—and of L’Arche, the international organisation of which he is the founder. Jean Vanier single-handedly revolutionised the way in which people with an intellectual disability are seen and cared for, by the simple act of inviting them out of institutions and into his home in the 1960s. ‘Meeting’ some of the current residents of that home in Trosly, France, is one of the many highlights of this beautiful film.
Special Q+A Premiere screenings of Summer In The Forest will be in cinemas from Friday 29 April. Don’t miss out! Pre-book your tickets now at movieschangepeople.com.
